Lovely Mondays - Week highlights

This post is dedicated to highlighting some of my favorite things I came across while working this past week.

I adore this chandelier.  It is elegance with an edge.

Prometheus III by Christopher Boots

This sofa is the perfect example of modern luxe.  It is clean lined but really cozy.

Grand Sablon by Dmitriy & Co.

What a  fun idea to take marbling to a larger scale.  Even better using gold.

Lunaris Wallpaper by Calico

I have always been a fan of this collection and especially love this sconce.

Fabulous Fridays - Guest Room

We have had a slew of house guests in the last few weeks (four in six weeks in fact) and it has been so much fun introducing old friends to our new life here in Texas.  So for this week I thought I would feature an inviting guest room that you could possibly use in your own home either verbatim or by tweaking and making your own.

I love the idea to make a guest room less like a bland hotel room and more like a luxe experience.  The "spa" look has lost it's luster in my mind... what are your thoughts?

Finally, a big thank you to Houston Magazine for the recognition in this month's issue!  I am happy to be here and part of this thriving design community.

Lovely Mondays - Gift Guide

We are looking forward to spending the holidays in our new Texas home this year.  In staying home I will certainly feel a lot more organized with my gift giving and I am hoping this post will let you get ahead of your own holiday plans...

Here are my top design and entertaining themed gifts:

I just purchased (ahem...for myself) these Farmhouse Pantry salt and pepper cellars from B2 in Houston.  A great price for a unique and stylish gift for the at home chef.

This pillow would be a fun addition to any room.  Surprisingly I have mine sitting on a floral chair but the prints work very well together.  Willa Skye Home on Etsy just helped me so much by rush shipping some pillows for me for a photo shoot - as helpful as they are talented!

I love this little zebrawood speaker.  I have one but am going to order another.  At only 3" tall it is subtle and chic.

How about a piece of original art?  This piece from the 70s by Tom Climent is beautiful.  Perfect for that wall in an entry or any small space that needs some character.

This is a really great take on the starburst mirror.  So unique AND well priced.  Samjen Arts also does custom work.

My favorite scent; clean and soothing.  Bamboo by Nest

Is this not the perfect wine glass?  These glasses designed by Alfredo Haberli are definitely on my wish list this year.

A luxurious throw is always a fantastic gift.  This one is cashmere and silk and available at Barneys New York.

Finally a way to get a touch of Oscar de la Renta for your home...a beautiful lacquer tray.

A great idea via House Beautiful Magazine.  Buying a bouquet from Bloom 2 Bloom will help donate flowers to those in need.

Happy Shopping!

And if you weren't the one chosen during October, make sure to enter November's contest anytime before the last day of the month!

Lovely Mondays - NOLA update

Had a wonderful time in New Orleans this past week and wanted to share some of the highlights with you...

Gallery 3954 was one of my favorite stops along Magazine Street.  I loved their custom tables by Kathy Slater and the sculptures by Julie Silvers.

Gerrie Bremermann Interiors has such a well edited space.  Fantastic art and fantastic furnishings in well composed vignettes.  I noticed work by Meredith Pardue who has been one of my favorite artists for quite sometime.

The food was fantastic.  Incredible pizza from Domenica in the Waldorf Astoria and a happy hour steal at Rio Mar in the Warehouse District topped my list.

On a sadder note I was blown away how much help the city still needs.  Please consider donating what you can to Habitat for Humanity Nola and for more information you can read here...

Fabulous Fridays - NOLA

That's right, I am headed to New Orleans this weekend.  I am thrilled for so many reasons.  The first is that it is a 13th anniversary trip for my husband and me and we have had so much fun planning it together.  Secondly, it really it is the closest I can get to Paris without leaving my four children for too long!  Finally, my last trip there (10 years ago) we had freezing rain and wind so it was unforgettable in not such a good way...I know it has way more to offer than what we experienced then.

Things I am looking forward to seeing...and PLEASE leave any advice if you have it!

I was really a fan of this chair that artist Sarah Ashley Longshore did for Anthropologie a while back:

I have commissioned two bowls now from the talented sculptor, Michael J. Clement.

A vintage chair from Perch Home

A pair of 19th century French Versailles urns from Antiques de Provence

Let's not forget the indulgences

Whether home or away, enjoy your weekend!
